Preventive Dentistry Practices

‌Protective dentistry practices are practices aimed at protecting the existing oral and dental health in general. In addition to not providing the right hygienic care for many years, not taking the necessary protective measures also plays an important role in the deterioration of oral and dental health. For this reason, with preventive dentistry practices today, problems such as dental caries that can be seen in the future are prevented by taking the necessary precautions while the oral and dental health is not impaired. Preventive dentistry is very important especially in childhood and youth. Generally, preventive dentistry applications in these age groups can be listed as ‌topical fluoride applications and ‌fissure sealants applied to molar teeth in particular.

Endodontics

The pulp tissue, which is the deepest tissue of the teeth and contains the nerves and vascular packages, is damaged due to caries affecting the deep dental tissues, and sometimes traumas. With the damage of this tissue, pulp diseases that cause serious pain can be seen or the teeth may lose their vitality. If the teeth cannot maintain their vitality for any reason, the nerve tissues in the center of the tooth, namely the pulp, should be cleaned. This treatment is called endodontic treatment, that is, root canal treatment. Dentists who specialize in endodontics are called endodontists. As a result of neglecting endodontic treatments, lesions may occur in the roots of the teeth, and even tooth loss may occur. For this reason, endodontic treatments are of great importance in oral and dental health.

‌Periodontology

When it comes to oral health, gums are as important as teeth. Situations in which the gingival health deteriorates sometimes consist of simple gingival bleeding, but sometimes it can cause serious problems that can go up to tooth loss. The branch of dentistry that includes the diagnosis and treatment of gum diseases is called periodontology, and dentists who specialize in this field are called periodontologists. Periodontological treatments are applied for calculus cleaning, cleaning of tooth root surfaces and surgical curettage, removal of gingival recessions. In addition to these, the diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as diseases of the gingival tissues around the implant, bleeding gums, tooth sensitivity and bad breath are made in the periodontology department.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral and maxillofacial surgery is a branch of surgery that deals with all surgical interventions involving teeth and oral tissues as well as jaw bones and joints. Impacted tooth operations, treatment of cysts and lesions in the jawbones, ‌implant treatments, ‌grafts, i.e. bone powder applications for the purpose of eliminating the dimensional loss of the jawbones, treatment of jaw fractures, ‌apical resection and all oral surgical procedures such as these, are performed by specialist oral and maxillofacial surgeons. performed under anesthesia.

‌Implantology

In the past, only prosthetic methods were used to eliminate tooth deficiencies. However, prostheses made to eliminate tooth deficiencies brought about deficiencies such as the reduction of healthy teeth and damage to them and the inability to provide the necessary comfort in toothless mouths. With the advent of implantology treatments, it became possible to eliminate tooth deficiencies and complete edentulism without these problems.

‌Implant treatments consist of two stages, ‌the surgical stage, where the implants are placed in the jawbone, and the prosthetic stage, where prosthetic teeth with superstructures are applied. ‌Implant applications are applied to perform fixed prosthesis applications or to make removable prostheses more stable in the mouth. With the developing technology, implant treatment can be applied in almost every case.

Aesthetic Dentistry

When it comes to dental treatments, often the first thing that comes to mind is the treatment of rotten teeth and the compensation of missing teeth, but today, smile aesthetics related to teeth and gums are also of great importance. Causes such as cavities, excessive discoloration, crowding, deformities in the tooth surface and form, and the position of the gums relative to the teeth adversely affect dental aesthetics. Situations where smile aesthetics are not good enough cause negative effects on people both socially and psychologically.

Situations that disrupt smile aesthetics can be corrected with modern aesthetic dentistry practices. Applications such as whitening treatments, ‌composite or porcelain ‌lamina applications, porcelain ‌venner applications and gingival arrangements are among the applications of aesthetic dentistry.

Prosthesis

Problems such as missing teeth, decayed teeth that cannot be repaired with filling methods, tooth fractures, aesthetic problems related to the structure of the tooth are possible with dental prostheses.

Prosthetic treatments have a wide range of applications. The first of these is tooth deficiencies. There are two types of applications for eliminating tooth deficiencies with prosthetic methods. The first of these is removable prostheses applied to toothless or very few teeth, and the other is crown treatments in cases where the loss of substance in the tooth is high and bridge applications in case of a small number of teeth missing, that is, fixed prostheses. Veneers and bridges can be made with many different alternative methods and materials.

In addition to tooth deficiencies, prosthesis applications are also used in cases where there are aesthetic deficiencies of the teeth that cannot be eliminated by other methods. ‌Lamina porcelains are an example of aesthetic prosthetic applications applied in such cases. ‌Implant-based structures are also created with various prosthetic methods, and these are called ‌implant prostheses.

Orthodontics

Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with dental crowding, disorders in tooth closure, and disorders in the relationship of the lower and upper jaws with each other, and dentists specializing in this field are called orthodontists. Crowded and irregular teeth are one of the most uncomfortable situations when people smile. In addition, other factors such as gapped teeth and incompatibility of the positions of the bones of the jaws with each other adversely affect both the appearance of the teeth and facial aesthetics. Such disorders, on the other hand, can impair chewing function. The healthiest solution to all these tooth appearance and jaw structure problems is possible with orthodontic treatment, which is also known as wire treatment among the people.
